Jazzorama im Artheater

Jazzorama is Cologne's longest-running and most successful jazz jam session series. Since 2003, Tuesday nights at the Artheater have been a fixture of the city's jazz scene.

The format stays the same each week: an opening band, different every Tuesday, plays first, after which the stage is open to everyone who wants to meet and get to know one another through improvisation. Once a month comes the "student night," with students from the Cologne University of Music and Dance taking the opening slot.

The repertoire reaches well beyond jazz standards: whatever gets suggested, or whatever comes to the players in the moment, is fair game. Newcomers who would like to sit in can contact the Jazzorama team in advance or simply speak to them on the night.

As an open, weekly session, Jazzorama brings together emerging players, students, and seasoned musicians alike, making it one of the key meeting points of Cologne's jazz scene outside the conventional concert circuit.
