Sam Gendel, Ethan Braun & Ugné Uma
Sam Gendel - TBA Ethan Braun - TBA Ugné Uma - TBA
TicketsSaxophonist Sam Gendel from California and singer, lyricist, and journalist Ugnė Uma from Lithuania have known each other for some time. Three years ago, they created the project “Tam Tikri Objektai Erdvėje” (Lithuanian for “Some Special Objects in Space”) for the Maekusma platform.
The six titles of the pieces in this project correspond to the letters of the word “Saturn” and create a sonic cosmos that is as fragile as it is urgent. Within this soundscape, one finds echoes of improvisation, sampling of their own recordings, and sound designs from the early Yamaha Portasound PSS-290 synthesizer, abstracting pop and R&B to evoke a contemplative atmosphere.
Joining this setting of sounds, imaginary soundscapes, and noises is composer Ethan Braun, who also lives in California. Through his compositional work, he aims to structure and shape the already multifaceted spectrum of this music, bringing it to life like a living organism and transforming it into textures that are both dense and loose.
Double concert with Anatole Muster.
Separate tickets are available for this double concert, which are valid only for this event. The “day ticket September 10” is also valid here.

artheater
Since opening in 1998, the artheater in Cologne's Ehrenfeld district has brought together a club, a concert venue, and a stage for theater productions under one roof. Three principles guide its programming: range, cultural subculture, and political responsibility.
The venue is deeply rooted in Ehrenfeld and sees the neighborhood's development as part of its own story. In recent years it has gained a growing number of neighbors with whom it cultivates musical diversity, with the shared aim of keeping Ehrenfeld a home for alternative nightlife.
Three formats shape the jazz side of the program. Jazzorama, the weekly Tuesday session, is the city's longest-running jam session series. Twice a year, the Artheater also hosts Jazz Against the Machine. The Latin Session rounds out the calendar once a month on a Wednesday.
Between club nights, concerts, and theater productions, the Artheater remains a place where jazz appears not as a genre kept apart but as part of a broader cultural program – one that links Cologne's improvised music to the nightlife of the surrounding district.
