Die Gruppe trat bei renommierten Festivals wie Jazzfest Berlin, Leipziger Jazztage, PENG! Festival und Bezau Beats (AT) auf.

2025 begann das Ensemble mit Unterstützung des Musikfonds eine neue Phase, in der die reiche Rhythmuskultur der Sambaschulen Rio de Janeiros als Ausgangspunkt für Improvisation und Komposition dient.

Mariá Portugal ist in der brasilianischen und europäischen Szene als vielseitige Schlagzeugerin, Komponistin, Sängerin, Produzentin und Kuratorin aktiv. Nach einem Abschluss in klassischer Komposition wandte sie sich der freien Improvisation zu und erforscht seitdem intensiv deren Verbindung zum Lied. Sie tourte und veröffentlichte international mit Künstler*innen aus Pop, Improvisation und neuer Musik. Sie ist aktuell für den Deutschen Jazzpreis 2026 in der Kategorie Schlagzeug / Perkussion nominert.

Brazilian musician Mariá Portugal presents her EROSÃO SEPTET, featuring outstanding musicians from Europe’s jazz/experimental scenes.
The group has performed at renowned events such as Jazzfest Berlin, Leipziger Jazztage, PENG! Festival, Bezau Beats (AT), and others.
In 2025, with support from Musikfonds, the group entered a new phase focusing on rhythm, deepening the research on the immense culture of Rio de Janeiro’s Samba Schools and using it as source material for improvisation and composition.
Mariá Portugal has been active in both the Brazilian and European music scenes as a prolific drummer, composer, singer, producer and curator. After graduating in classical composition, she focused on free improvisation and began extensive research into its intersection with song. She has toured and recorded worldwide with a myriad of artists, spanning fields from pop to free improvisation. She is currently nominated for the German Jazz Award 2026 in the category of drums/percussion.


The concerts at the LOFT will generally start at around 8.00 pm CET - the LOFT will open at 7.30 pm CET.
Exceptions during wintertime - eg on Sundays - are possible.
